On June 11th at both services, we have crafted a liturgy of scriptures, anthems and hymns that honor both Creation and Creator.
From the Lloyd Pfautsch's boisterous setting of e.e.cummings' poem i thank You God!, to John Rutter's lyric re-imagining of For the Beauty of the Earth, including Frank Ticheli's heartfelt and hopeful Earth Song, Carol Barnett's insightful juxtaposition of Marisha Chamberlain's poetry with the familiar doxology tune in the "Gloria" movement from the Bluegrass Mass (reminding us that among the Creator's few commands of us are ones "that we help each other bear life's burdens"), a traditional Anglican chant setting of Psalm 8, and concluding with Larry Nickel's arrangement of Brian Doerksen's Creation Calls, we will pose the question, "How can I say there is no God when all around creation calls?"
Add to this your own fine singing of From All That Dwell Below the Skies and Holy, Holy, Holy, and you will be part of a fine summer morning's worship. Please join us-and bring friends-for this special occasion.
Soli Deo Gloria (glory to God alone)
