Wisdom isn’t knowing things.
Wisdom is knowing which things are useful to know right now.
Every day, it’s good practice to go down to the river to get some water.
Water that comes from somewhere else.
Water that continues to go down stream.
Sometimes after I have been hurt, or when I have experienced a rite of passage, or found a new path, I sit on the old earth and weave a wreath of flowers that I lay in the river.
I once went to a workshop on storytelling.
The storyteller said two things:
- “Don’t tell scary stories. Never waste the opportunity of a story.”
- “Never tell anyone what the story means.”
