Humans of San Quentin: Humanizing the Incarcerated

Sunday, March 05, 2023, 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
San Quentin State Prison is a prominent part of our Marin landscape, yet what do you really know about its 3,500 residents? Humans of San Quentin is a powerful storytelling platform that breaks down stereotypes and humanizes those people living behind bars. Their work in that community has proven to have the power to inspire and inform and, importantly, reminds of our shared humanity.
Join us when Westminster Events presents Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin and Belvedere resident, in engaging conversation with Rob McClellan. Diane will explain why and how Humans of San Quentin elicits personal stories from incarcerated individuals and the profound ripple effects of this storytelling. These stories have ignited and catalyzed connections both inside and outside of prison. Meet two previously incarcerated people from their team who will share their stories and healing journeys. A reception will follow where Diane and her team can answer your questions.
