OUR CAMPAIGN BEGINS

In our worship services on January 28th, we officially began our Capital Campaign which will unfold over the coming months, culminating in early June. This campaign will help us address deferred maintenance and necessary safety improvements, upgrade our kitchen and classroom spaces, and make our building more welcoming – all in support of our mission as a beloved community of Christ.

Westminster 2020 – Forward in Faith is the theme for our campaign—a process that will involve us in a focused time of inspiration and reflection on that to which God calls us, and what we are to do in our lives and in our community in God’s name.

Our campaign is about more than just finances. It’s an opportunity for us to live our mission to be a people who are: spiritually exploring, open and inclusive, committed to a faith that is applicable, welcoming of families and children, and grounded in Christ. Working together, we will ensure a bright
future for Westminster for years to come and create greater opportunity for all people to better know God’s love.

Throughout this spring, we will focus on Christian growth and commitment. You can get involved in many ways—informational meetings, Bible Studies, a Prayer Vigil, an All-Church Celebration, and other activities. Watch for announcements, newsletters, and other materials to learn how you can participate.

Ours is the privilege and opportunity to continue to build up our church, celebrate the abundance God places in our lives, and carry forward the vital ministry we share.

Come, be a part of God’s promise for us as we move Forward in Faith on our Westminster 2020 Campaign.

MOVING FORWARD IN FAITH THROUGH THE BIBLE

To support our spiritual development throughout our campaign, we will have multiple opportunities to engage in Bible study and prayer in the coming months. We will consider our own stewardship experiences, as well as God’s call to us through scripture about “faith-filled” giving. Marc Rieke, our campaign advisor, will facilitate this study that helps us understand, “The Joy of Generosity.” Childcare will be available. Sunday, March 4; 11:15am

Additionally, a Bible study series will invite you to explore and dream what WPC would look like as we move Forward in Faith in light of communities of faith that did the same. Given that this is not a business or personal venture. What do communities of faith experience on these kinds of journeys? Will we get there? Will we not? What happens if we do or do not? In our sacred Scriptures we’re given examples of peoples who embarked on these journeys. So we will learn about their journeys then imagine the parallels of our journey today and into the future.

Week 1: The Exodus; Wednesday, 4/3, 9:30am and Sunday 4/8, 11:15am
Week 2: Nehemiah and The Rebuild; Wednesday, 4/11, 9:30am and Sunday 4/15, 11:15am
Week 3: Acts and The Early Church; Wednesday, 4/18, 9:30am and Sunday 4/22, 11:15am
Week 4: Hebrews 11 and The Promise of Faith; Wednesday, 4/25, 9:30am and Sunday 4/29, 11:15am

ALL CHURCH PRAYER VIGIL
As we prepare our hearts and minds during our campaign, an All-Church Prayer Vigil is planned for Friday, March 30 through Saturday, March 31. Each member will be invited and encouraged to dedicate one hour in prayer at the church during this time. Prayer requests will be invited as we prepare for this event. For more information on the Prayer Vigil, contact Sharon Terrill email: or phone: 415-216-6295

FORWARD IN FAITH GATHERINGS OFFER FELLOWSHIP AND INFORMATION
An integral part of our Westminster 2020 – Forward in Faith campaign is a series of small group dinners/brunches which will give participants an opportunity to hear first-hand about the plans and purposes of our capital stewardship program. These gatherings will take place between March 11th and April 14th. A variety of times and locations will be available.

The meetings will offer opportunities for fellowship and information, as well as time for questions and answers concerning our capital campaign and the ways in which each of us is called to support and strengthen the ministries and programs of Westminster Presbyterian Church through our various campaign projects. No financial commitments will be asked for at these gatherings. Look for further information, announcements and sign-up opportunities about the Forward in Faith Gatherings, and plan to attend one of these important sessions. For more information on the Forward in Faith gatherings please contact: Susan Bertelsen at or Carol Coffman at
